Agave drinks are on the up
Within the category ‘agave’ are tequila and mescal. Tequila comes from so called blue agaves, whereas other agaves may be used in mescal or pulque. The main source of the agave plant is Mexico. Cocktail and pure spirit drinks popularity is growing by some 9% per annum and taking market share from more traditional and premium spirits like cognac. The main export markets are in the USA and UK.
